WOW!

OK, so its been a while, since I have posted, one special sock down, one more to go.

Tuesday after work, I went up to Boarders to meet up with my Knitting Divas and we met the Yarn Harlot! (aka Stephanie Perl-McPhee) Check out her site at www.yarnharlot.ca, Stephanie is Fabulous! I even got a small mention on her website, which I will ever be so grateful for!

If you want a good little book to read, I definitely recommend her new one.

Off to sleep now...

More hats on the way....

Just a weird ramble here.... I spent most of the day getting my PB 15" for sale and setting up the new computer. Now I am on a Intel Mac! Who Hooo!! I have made one more Helping Hat and started on another. Last night I went out with a sweet guy named Scott. We had a great time hoping the light rail to downtown and eating at Jolina on the Green. Awesome food!
From there we went to the McColl Center for Visual Art to see the artists in residence exhibits. Jan's space was awesome, filled with quilts and knitted or crocheted pieces of work.

Speaking of work... off to the Apple Store...

First Knitted Hat

I whipped up the Helping Hat pattern over the weekend and wore it to work today. I can not tell you how many people have commented on this hat. I am going to buy more of this yarn and knit up some for gifts and charity work.

My Birthday Weekend.... SICK!!!!

AHHHHHH!!!!! Ok, now I feel better... I wish! This week has been perfect right up until Thursday when I thought I was having just a bad allergy day. Then Friday morning, I could not even move! So I spent most of my fabu 30th birthday weekend in bed! I did make it to my Friday night crafty night birthday at Cristi's and I got some awesome gifts! Thanks to everyone for the b-day gifts. I will treasure for a long time! Then I went back to bed and barely got out of it on Sat. I did make it to my own b-day dinner at Mama Ricotta's and we had 20 people there! We had a good dinner, but no Petra's that night... I stayed in bed again on Sunday and managed to finish this little pouch for Joyce's dad to keep his tissues in.

Ding! Socks are done.

This is my first attempt at making a pair of socks and I am quite pleased with how they turned out. Now off to cast on the Tech Guy socks which I have been eagerly waiting to do!

A week of de-clutter-ing and knitting!

Tis my week of vacation and I am doing nothing but spring cleaning and knitting. Pics to come, as I decide on what to do with my room. Sock #2 was finished and I ripped out sock #1 back to the toe decreases to add a little more room.

Hopefully will be done tonight!

She cut the yarn!!

Oh yes, ladies she cut the piece of work in two... now I know this is called cutting a Steek. Its for creating holes in the work for one reason or another (think arm holes.)

Saturday was my first class that I took related to knitting.  It was a Fair Isle class taught by the FABULOUS Jane Prater.   Now everyone, I have been getting to know Jane at our Wednesday night meet-ups and at the yarn store, and one of the things I love about her is her motto when it comes to knitting... "Relax, it's just knitting!"  and she is correct.   One of my favorite parts of this class is the little tricks you learn and I will forever be bowing to her feet for this one... I can now knit backwards!  YES!   KNIT BACKWARDS!!! This means I do not have to turn the work to purl.   Best of all, its so damn simple!   Here is the iCard I sent Jane..

I loved this class and yes, it was the greatest way to start of my Birthday week.  You can see my sample work I played with in class.   It's so neat to see how the colors come together... now I just have to get working on a project!

Sock #2 Heel Turn!

I am in the home stretch!    Sock #2 should be completed by Wednesday night knitting group and  then I can start on a new pair.   I started on a new project as well, so now I have two going at the same time.  

Last night I had two of very best friends over for dinner, and I made slow cooked pork roast.   It was so freaking yummy and was the easiest recipe!   Got to love allrecipies.com.    Along with this yummy roast, I made roasted vegetables, and mom made some acorn squash.   Then we had chocolate chip cookies... baked from scratch right out of the toll house package!   ;-)

 

After dinner we watched the Oscars together, and I worked on the socks some more, and much to my surprise Louis wanted to learn how to knit!   So I pulled out some needles, and some scrap yarn and taught him how to knit.  Now he is a righty and Davey is a lefty here, so I had to stop and think how it would be best to teach him.  This was cool because it was good practice for when I have to lean how to knit with both hands at the Fair Isle class on Saturday.   Damn it felt good to teach someone how to knit!  I can't wait till Louis is making his own projects.  

Speaking of the Oscars last night, did you see Helen Mirrien?   DAMN she looked fierce!   (and her opening speech was awesome too.)  Helen is one of my all time favorite actresses and it was good to see her on.   What was up with Enchanted?   It was nominated for three out of the five songs and not one win!   WE WAS ROBBED!   But, Kristen Chenowith sang and that made me happy.   

 So how is everyone out there in knitting land?   

Off to the shower then to the Apple Store....  love to all... 

A Birthday Dinner Invitation

So its birthday time!   Join me and some friends on Saturday, March 8th at Mama Ricotta's on Kings Drive at 7pm for dinner and some fun!    After dinner we will head to Petra's for some piano bar singing and dancing.  :-)

What a week.

OK... slack ass here has not written since last week.   Sock #1 is done and looks good for my first attempt.  I will post the pics soon.   Now working on Sock #2.   This has been fun to learn.  

Two weeks from today, I turn 30.   Geezzzzz - hard to believe my gay ass has been around this long!  Should I celebrate?   

For those who do not know, I took over scheduling at the store and it has been one hell of a challenge.  But I am getting better at it.   If I can get a schedule done in two days it is good.   My goal.... get it done in a day.   Speaking of the store, sickness abodes at the store, so I am loading up on Airborne before I go in each day.   I so do not need to get sick. 

Went out with mom last night for V-Day.   We had a nice dinner and went to see Jumper.  It was a good movie, but they left it wide open for a sequel.   Hmmm....  that will be interesting.  

Love to my knitting friends, Cristi, Aimee, Corey, Heather, and all from BAM!  I missed you all this week and will definitely be staying longer next week.

Wow! So I know it has been a while since I have written an update. Here is my first heel turn for my first attempt at a pair of socks. Isn't it pretty! I am really pleased with this yarn and the striping effect it has.

I should be able to finish this one at lunch and move on to sock #2 tonight to complete the pair! WHO HOO!!!!

Almost to the heel! I am about 3" shy of the heel turn today! Hopefully this will go well.

Today will the the first time I am turned loose on scheduling all by myself at the store. Lets hope I don't screw this one up!

First up, I started working on Simple Socks. The yarn is Trekking XXL Sport weight yarn. It has been awesome to work with.
